  • Mr Pierre BarthelmĂ©, Government Counselor at the Ministry of SMEs, Tourism and Housing

    Mr Barthelmé was educated at the Université Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve (UCL) in Belgium and the Université - Faculté de Droit, Sciences Économiques et Gestion - in Nancy, France.

    Mr Barthelmé started his career in 1992 at the Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) as a reporting and controlling manager of the UBS Fund Department. From 1996-1998 he became Deputy CEO at the Luxembourg National Tourist Board (ONT), and was in charge of research, statistics and marketing.

    In 1998 he joined the Luxembourg Ministry for SMEs, Tourism and Housing, where he has been in charge of the Tourism Department since 2004, advising the Minister of Tourism on national and international matters, as well as strategy and policy for promoting tourism to Luxembourg. His department further provides state grants and support for tourism enterprises and improvements to the tourism infrastructure, as well as overseeing the National Tourist Board, Luxembourg Congress and Luxembourg's Tourist Offices abroad.

  • Mr Luc Decker, Deputy Director for Investment Promotion at the Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade

    Luc Decker was born on 3rd March 1977 in Luxembourg. He is living in Luxembourg City and is Deputy Director for Investment Promotion at the Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade. Luc is managing the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Offices network and promotes Luxembourg as the place to set up headquarters. Furthermore, he is in charge of the North-American and Chinese markets and works in close collaboration with the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Offices in New York, San Francisco and Shanghai to promote Luxembourg as a prime business location.

    Luc Decker studied law and political sciences in Paris, at the Sorbonne (Université Paris 1) where he obtained his masters degree in political sciences in 2004. Apart from his studies, he was also an international swimmer and represented Luxembourg in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

    In January 2005, he was recruited by the Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade for the Luxembourg presidency of the Council of the European Union and was, from 2005-2007 in charge of Press Relations for the Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade.

    Luc is also member of the board of LuxConnect.

     

  • Mr Roland Engeldinger, Conseiller de LĂ©gation

    Roland Engeldinger joined the International Economic Affairs Department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in August 2011 after a five year stay in Brussels. He worked there as a counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Luxembourg to the EU where he dealt with the relations of the EU with the countries of the Eastern neighbourhood and with Russia. He also followed discussions on trade questions, in particular representing Luxembourg in the EU Trade Defence Instruments working groups.

     

  • Mr Daniel Liebermann, Director, Directorate Logistics, Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade

    Daniel Liebermann is Director for Logistics at the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade.

    He joined the Ministry of the Economy in 2004. Initially, he was participating in the assessment of the country’s competitiveness. Then, he became more closely involved with the economic development policy of Luxembourg, especially foreign direct investment from Asia. Since 2012, he is heading the Directorate Logistics which is responsible for defining and implementing Luxembourg’s logistics strategy. The Directorate Logistics is also providing direct support to companies eager to develop their logistics in Luxembourg.

    Mr. Liebermann is a member of the board of directors of S.O.L.E.I.L S.A. (a public private joint venture responsible for developing warehousing facilities) and of CTI Systems S.A. (a company specialized in the design and manufacture of automated systems for the lifting and handling of heavy goods). He is a board member of Luxembourg for Business G.I.E. (Luxembourg’s trade promotion agency).

    After graduating from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) with a Bachelor's degree in economics, Mr. Liebermann obtained a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Durham (United Kingdom) and a Master of Arts in European Interdisciplinary Studies from the College of Europe (Poland).

  • Mr Nicolas Soisson, Director General at FEDIL

    After a first experience in the banking sector, Mr Nicolas Soisson joined Fedil, Business Federation Luxembourg, in 1980.  He first served as Secretary General and was appointed Director General in 1996.

    The main objective of Fedil, Business Federation Luxembourg, is to defend its members' professional interests as well as to monitor any economic, social and industrial issue affecting the Luxembourg economy.

    Mr Soisson  Nicolas holds a Master's degree of  applied economics from the University of Louvain, Belgium.

  • Mr Carlo Thelen, Chief Economist and Head of the International Department at the Chamber of Commerce

    Carlo Thelen joined the Chamber of Commerce of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in 1996 as economic adviser. He is in charge of strategic papers, studies, surveys and statistics, and of international affairs. In this context, he supports the promotion of Luxembourg as an ideal location for partnerships with local companies. Since 2003, he has been a member of the Managing Board and Chief Economist of the Chamber of Commerce.

  • Ms Carole Tompers, Secretary General at Luxembourg for Business

    Having started her career as a Marketing and Communication manager in the automotive industry, Ms Tompers currently serves as Secretary General at Luxembourg for Business. Her mission is to insure the promotion of “Made in Luxembourg” products and services in foreign markets.

    Ms Tompers works in close cooperation with Luxembourg for Business's founding members (i.e. the Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade, The Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Businesses and Tourism, The Chamber of Commerce, the Office du Ducroire, the National Credit and Investment Corporation (SNCI), the Chamber of Crafts and the Luxembourg Business Federation (FEDIL)) to jointly create added value in promotional efforts and to foster competences, leading to the development of avant-garde projects. These projects aim to increase the professionalism of each partner in their support to companies and act as a "trickle down effect" benefiting the internationalisation process of Luxembourg's companies as a whole. Ms Tompers´s mission and projects focus on strategic marketing, which she strives to implement jointly with the Luxembourg network abroad i.e. Luxembourg´s Trade and Investment Offices (LTIOs), Luxembourg´s embassies as well as Luxembourg´s consulates general and bilateral chambers of commerce.
    Ms Tompers was educated in Great Britain at the Manchester University Business School, and Manchester Metropolitan University gaining a Master's in International Business and Management, and a Bachelor in Marketing and Management.

    Ms. Tompers has superior skills in five languages, both written and oral: French, English, German, Italian and Luxembourgish. She speaks four of these languages when dealing with about 15 different nationals daily.

    In her leisure time, Ms Tompers is a passionate runner and photographer.

     

  • Mr Jean-Claude Vesque, International Department (non-European markets) at the Chamber of Commerce

    Mr Vesque is responsible for elaborating new marketing tools for the promotion for Luxembourg's trade and commerce and heads the organisation of economic and trade missions for business delegations outside Europe. Previously he held an international position at Parker Hannifin Corporation, U.S.A. (1979-1983) and was Director of Finance & Administration as well as Member of the Board of Directors for TradeArbed Pte Ltd in Singapore (1990-1997).
