Luxembourg energy provider Enovos Luxembourg SA
has taken a 25% stake in an electricity and heatproducing
biogas plant in Tongeren, Belgium, in its first
Belgian investment. The biogas plant will convert
locally-grown corn into biogas, which will be burned in
an engine to produce electricity and heat, which will dry
fermentation residue for farm use. The plant will produce
about 3MW or power for 6,500 homes from April 2012,
while saving 10,000 tonnes of CO2, with a near doubling
of capacity planned.
